We set off today heading north for the inactive, former volcano of ‘S Airde Beinn, with a short detour into Tober’ for books, CD’s and model boats! ‘S Airde Beinn is above Tobermory and you get great views across the Sound of Mull to Loch Sunart and beyond.

A4 ~ Watercolour sketch

The crater of ‘S Airde Beinn needs little imagination to see it as an extinct volcano. We stopped here for lunch, it being sunny but windy we found a little sheltered spot. From here we saw another Golden Eagle, which was diving and doing aerobatics on the wind. On the walk back we also saw one of the Sea Eagles so we had good day on the eagle front!
