A little light sketching whilst camping down in Cornwall (Trevose Head) at the weekend. Merope Rocks and the Lifeboat Station – with just the sound of Skylarks, Oystercatchers peeping and the odd paddleboarders going past.

We had been booked into Mother Ivey’s Bay Campsite for some time, but with a poor weather forecast, we were expecting wind, rain and to be a bit chilly. However, we were pleasantly surprised when the sun came out to greet us on Saturday morning (we arrived on the Friday evening) and stayed with us all weekend. A 90% chance of rain was given on the Sunday morning, but the sun still smiled on us and we were able to get our large tent down dry! There is nothing worse than a large soggy tent to be taken home and dried out.

So for some of the time, I was able to stroll a little way along the coast path, with my A4 sketch pad to do a sketch or two. I took with me a 6B pencil, graphite stick and a pocket watercolour set.

Old Barn on the Coast Path.

The architectural Merope Rocks again this time in the grey light of the Friday evening.
