Pen & watercolour wash, A4’ish.

I’m down in Fowey relaxing on ‘Exeat’, the 31-foot cruiser yacht that’s entered in the Regatta. I am one of the crew – probably the Cabin Boy. The least important, but having a fine time none the less. Also, I have my sketchbook with me for a little downtime sketching.
We have finished our race and are moored back on the river. Most of the crew have gone ashore. However, I’m sitting on the back of the boat, sketching the Troy boat race in the estuary. Looking across at the town of Fowey in the background. What could be better?

Materials Used

These sketches are painted in a Daler Rowney, Langton 14 x 10”, ‘Not’ watercolour pad. Using my small Winsor & Newton, watercolour field paint box, with a couple of round brushes – sable no.6 & a no.1 + a 6B pencil.

Gallants Safety Boat

Also, just off our stern is the Gallants Safety Boat. Keeping a watchful, eye on the Troy boats racing in the estuary.
Pencil sketch with watercolour added – A4’ish.
