‘Oil Painting – First Mate at the Helm’

Oil painting of a young man, sailing, ‘First Mate at the Helm’. Painted using Michael Harding and Winsor & Newton, Artists’ oil paints, with round brushes on canvas board – 30 x 40 cm.

For this painting, I had to work from photos, but still did a little sketching around the subject. I was conscious of trying to capture the different textures, on the fabrics, the wood, and the rope.
